As you are aware, I am an avid MacBook user and Apple fan. This past weekend, I believe my passion for Apple rescued me from an extremely unpleasant and probably devastating experience.

It’s probably best if I give you context and start at the beginning, which was one week ago, in order to convey the narrative fully and completely.

Working on the job

In addition to regularly posting on Medium, my YouTube channel also contributes to the ‘brand’. I frequently stray away from the very comparable things I cover on there to talk about Android in my videos.

So, as a YouTube channel expands, part of administering it involves making an effort to get sponsorship. These channels cost a lot to run, especially in the tech industry. I got the iPhone 15 Pro Max last month, and this week, I’ll receive the Pixel 8 Pro, two purchases that together cost me more than $2,000.

Earning money in an effort to pay for my expenses is necessary because Google is currently in a bit of a mess due to being in court on anti-trust accusations and the whole invalid traffic situation (that I am caught up in).

A surprise

When I read my emails on my iPhone in bed on Sunday morning, one in particular attracted my attention: a business was interested in sponsoring a video.

I waited until I was in the studio and read the email carefully on my MacBook since I didn’t want to continue the conversation on the phone. We receive a ton of emails as creators, the most of which are spam. The questionable ones are typically simple to recognize since they use poor grammar and are imprecise and generic. I immediately block and delete that kind of email as I start reading it.

But this one was unique; it came from a man by the name of Harper Alexander, and it was always so…
